About Dongxi

Every vintage object has a story to tell.

Dongxi is a Shanghai-based cultural collection space dedicated to discovering, preserving,

and sharing objects that carry the memories of China’s past.

It started with a simple curiosity about old things — the craftsmanship behind them,

the lives they were once part of, and the history they quietly preserve.

From antique furniture and traditional crafts to everyday objects found in Chinese homes,

each piece offers a glimpse into another time and the people who shaped it.

At first, it was simply the joy of finding something with a past — a piece of furniture, an old lamp,

a handmade object, or something that once belonged to someone’s everyday life.

As we traveled through antique markets, old streets, and small shops across China, we began to

notice that these objects were more than just things. They carried memories of the people who

made them, used them, and lived alongside them.

A wooden table might hold the marks of years of family gatherings. An old sign might remind us

of a changing city. A simple household item might tell a story about a different time.
